(S2,E1) Season 2 of A Daughter's Inheritance begins on the other side of the world! Chieko Iwata, who lives in Tokyo, Japan was influenced by two mothers: her biological Japanese mother and her Norwegian host mother, whom she met as a 16-year-old exchange student in New Jersey.
Chieko talks about growing up in a traditional multigenerational household, her parents' arranged marriage that grew into love, and the feeling of being caught between cultures. She also shares her time at Mississippi State University, where she taught Japanese culture through the tea ceremony and the philosophy of ichigo ichie, and where she learned about openly showing affection, something less common in Japan.
